Welcome to an ambitious computer arts festival and a multiplatform demoparty, now taking place in central Stockholm near Slussen aboard M/S Borgila!

Edison 2025 is the 14th iteration of a 2 day event with competitions in programming, graphics and music as well as a social gathering where you can meet old and new friends and get to know the demoscene.

This year we’ve switched to a brand new venue: M/S Borgila on Söder Mälarstrand. We have space for 100+ participants and there are plenty of hostel and food boats along the same dock.

Being a city venue we now close the doors each night, at 02:00, so you cannot sleep at the venue any longer. The doors reopen 10:00 the next morning.

It’s me, Weyland, at the keys, providing my thank you speech in written form this year!

Let’s get right into it, I want to thank:

Whizzter
for book keeping, setting up the party system, patching the party system, being the infodesk chief and so much more that it’s fair to say he’s the new head orga in training for sure!

Zworp
for hunting down sponsors and even winning drinking games with them and maintaining all the little details about Edison like setting up the merch shop and all the other administrative things for months on end without ever tiring!

for once again risking his life assembling new trophies that fits everyone’s collector’s cabinets and of course co-hosting the prize-giving ceremony!

for doing all the graphics design and art direction for every Edison I can reasonably remember and of course providing the awesome compo jingle which is still playing in my head, and the wristband designs!

for being an all-chill guy providing the official edisonparty.com website as well as heading all the live duels which seems like a much bigger problem than you’d think!

for helping out with absolutly anything and everything, taking notes and even talking to unreasonable people for me and generally being a very good boy

I’m sure I forgot at least half of you so please remind me, but rest assured, I truly appreciate everyone who made this Edison such an awesome demoparty. I only felt 50% as stressed-out as normal, which is truly amazing! Hope to see you all again next year! ❤️

Details and theme of the compo will be announced on Saturday at 14:00-ish, on the big screen and stream. Deadline will be a couple of hours later.

So be ready to get your ship together and enter the compo on Saturday!

The entry upload is now open for all ticket holders, use your ticket reference as the invite key!

If you buy a ticket after this announcement, please give us up to 24 hours to file your ticket in the party system before trying to register.

In the spirit of simplifying things we’re trying out all new and old party systems, and this year we went with Granola by kusma and we hope you like the intuitive and quite reasonable simplicity of it! Upload a zip file if you need working stages and so on. Note your settings and specific platform in the public Notes field. We’re all for transparency!

With only a couple of days left until the party, here are some of the notable practical information for anyone participating.

NO TICKETS ARE SOLD AT THE DOOR
You need to buy a ticket before the party to gain physical access. Please buy your ticket as soon as possible. This is a private event.

REMOTE ENTRY UPLOAD REQUIRES A TICKET
You will have to “buy” a remote ticket to gain access to the party system remotely. There will be both free and paid for tiers to support the party when the party system opens, tentatively on Wednesday.

NO SALE OF BEVERAGES OR FOOD AT THE PARTY
There’s no sale of any beverages or food at the party. There’s a Swedish liquor store a short 10 minute walk away and a multitude of bars and restaurants nearby. Fridges and free coffee are available at the party.

NO SLEEPING AT THE PARTY
We’re closing the party at 2 AM each night so you will have to evacuate the venue before that and find somewhere else to sleep. Sorry.

BE KIND & KEEP IT TIDY
This is a creative event for all ages though mainly adults so please be kind to one another and leave any grudges outside the venue. Also help us keep the venue clean and free from damages and marks. You’re personally liable for any damages. Sort your waste appropriately and discard it respectfully. Follow Swedish law.

Our first music act is hereby announced featuring the world’s number one ZX Spectrum rockstar who transports you back to the 1980s with uplifting chiptune melodies, electrifying keytar solos and quirky songs about robots, love and jetpacks.

So join us on Friday at 11 PM to witness Gasman taking over our music stage!
